Another sunny day in paradise

Richard “Kenny” Burnett, owner of Black Dog LLC is an Army veteran of the Vietnam era. In 1969 at the age of 19 he decided to put college on hold and enlisted in the U.S.Army.

In June of 1969, his military career started at Fort Bragg, North Carolina for basic training at the home of the 82nd Airborne. 21 months later his military service was over and his commitment complete as he turned 21. During that 21 month period, he served as a “Tanker” with both the First Infantry Division (The Big Red One) and the 11th Armored Cavalry Division. Between those he was the track commander of a flamethrower with the 25th Infantry Division.

His overseas combat deployment in scenic Southeast Asia lasted 11 months 19 days with five weeks of that spent in Cambodia. During that time, he was wounded twice incurring permanent non-reversible injuries and was awarded two Purple Hearts. These injuries resulted from a land mine in Vietnam and shrapnel from an exploding tank in Cambodia. As a result of these combat injuries he is rated by the Veterans Administration as 100% totally and permanently disabled.(100% T&P) Additionally, during that period he was awarded two (2) Army Commendation Medals, one with a V Device for Valor; two (2) Bronze Star Medals; Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars; Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device; Civil Actions Medal (awarded by the Vietnamese Government); a Valorous Unit Award; a Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm Device; and finally the “I did my fair share” National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Today, Black Dog Enterprises LLC is a certified SDVOSB. The company and its ownership are registered with CCR and ORCA and ultimately the new SAM System.
